In the 20th Century, Venerable Rev. Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., made famous the motto “The family that prays together stays together” with global Rosary rallies and use of the latest technology to draw hearts closer to Jesus through Mary. Looking at Father Peyton’s life and legacy through the prism of modern challenges to our Church, we will examine how to build a “praying family” in our homes, parishes and communities. Our discussion will center around personal spirituality, Marian devotion, and current tools and practices to aid families in prayer. Additionally, we will consider how families, parishes and organizations can best follow Father Peyton’s practice of actively engaging with emerging media to grow in and share our faith. Special attention will be given to families facing care-giving challenges and families with loved ones who are separated from or have never practiced the faith.
